Overview
For those who love squeezing their way through slot canyons, there are not many tighter than the St. George narrows, also called "The Red Crack" by some St. George natives. Located not too far from St. George Blvd in downtown St. George, this mini slot canyon is very accessible to families whether you live in St. George, are vacationing there, or just passing through. What it lacks in length, it equally lacks in width, squeezing its way down to as little as a foot and a half in some places. Great care is required when trying to pass through this mini slot canyon, and it is not recommended for anyone who might deem themselves "a little hefty around the mid-section." There is a nearby Native American historic site accessible from the same parking lot, so it's worthwhile to stop by and learn something about their culture while you're there.
Note: It is advised to not have anything in your pockets while squeezing through this canyon. Belts, phones, or even buttons on jeans can cause nice bruises as you squeeze through. If you want pictures, it is an easy walk up to the top of the canyon, where you can look down at the people oozing their way through it from above. My wife had buttons on the back pockets of her jeans, and she came away with two nice matching bruises.

Trail Information
This hike is pretty straightforward - and I mean that literally! You just follow the slot canyon straight through and you can't get lost. As you proceed through the slot, the elevation rises a bit, and eventually you end up on top of the sandstone rock in which the crack resides. It only takes a few minutes to go through the slot, so it's possible to hike back to the trailhead and go through multiple times.
